I left my brain back in Yosemite - be back soon! |

7 Quick Takes
— 1 —
It has been quite the busy week at work. So busy, in fact, that the coordinator of the Children's program at Church called me on Thursday and I still haven't called her back! I put my name down to volunteer on occasional Sundays in the Little Church program at our church. It's for ages 3-5 on Sundays during the 9:30am mass. Now I feel bad about not getting back to her...

Brian finished his two weeks of training (or boot camp as he likes to call it) for the writing program, which he is teaching this semester. He had to be there at 9am each morning, so we carpooled. Normally he would take the bus but since I was headed in that direction it wasn't a problem. Except that he made me late to work everyday this week. :) I'm glad things will be back to normal next week.

Tenaya Lodge |
Our Yosemite vacation starts tomorrow! We are leaving around 10am, and we should get there around 3pm, then we can check into our hotel. All our anniversary presents are wrapped and ready to go...lots of fun surprises on Sunday I'm sure! Still need to pack though...
— 4 —
Speaking of packing I can't find the tops to my swimsuits. In my endless wisdom I separated my bottoms from my tops, putting my tops somewhere less than obvious in a place I would never have remembered. So I have nothing to wear in the pool. Unless I want to go topless. I make things so easy for myself. The next time I decide to put something "where I won't forget" somebody smack me.

Bayar is my favorite. Since they're not my kids I get to choose. |
I have Babies on the brain. Literally - I'm talking about the documentary. Have you all seen it? It's one of my favorite movies of all time and I highly recommend it. I love learning about how other cultures raise children. I've watched it on Blu-ray four times now!

Three weeks ago my doctor moved me from my suppository to two oral tablets. I tried it for two weeks, and not only did it make me nauseous, but it also didn't work. At all. By the middle of this week I was ready to go to Urgent Care all over again. Thankfully they switched me back and I'm taking the stuff that works again, now once in the morning and once at night. Yeah, it's a suppository and that's not really cool, but at least it works.

Disclaimer: This is not my baby and I am not pregnant. |
Speaking of babies, my husband and I always disagree over whether or not we want to find out the sex of our baby on the ultrasound. I want the first one to be a surprise (I was a surprise) - but Brian NEEDS to know. Like, IreallyneedtoknoworIwilldieofanticipation know. What do you guys think - wait until the day of or find out as soon as possible?

I Hate Change
I especially hate change when I've already got something good going for me...but, sometimes it's a necessity in life. Hence, I got new glasses frames and new sunglasses. My old glasses frames ate the dust in Germany, and they've been hanging on by one replacement screw since I came back. My sunglasses are 5 years old so I am excited about getting new ones.
Anyway, here are the pictures. For some reason my camera wouldn't focus on them, so they're blurry. But you get the idea!
I get them in 7-10 business days...hopefully I'll still like them given that I dropped $325 for these two beauties (with insurance!). Dang, glasses are expenses.
Look for some fancy modeling pictures in the coming week or two.

Guest Post
Well, I reached outside the comfort zone of my own little blog, and did a guest post for Mandi at Catholic Newlywed. I am so thankful for the opportunity and very happy to be able to contribute to her On Marrying Young series. You can view my guest post here:

The Versatile Blogger Award
Liana from Working to be Worthy was kind enough to give me an award back in August, and I'm ashamed to just be getting around to it! Thank you so much Liana - I hope you enjoy reading my blog just as much as I enjoy reading yours!
Here’s how the award works. After accepting the Versatile Blogger Award, the blogger must:
I. Thank the person who gave the award and link back to them in your post.
II. Share 7 things about yourself.
III. Pass this award along to 15 recently discovered blogs.
Seven Tidbits About Me:
1. I started Kindergarten at age 4, and graduated high school at 17.
2. I met my husband on CatholicMatch.com
3. I've worn glasses since my senior year of high school, but most people assume I've always worn them.
4. I have read thousands of books, and currently own 400+ books.
5. I have natural blonde, honey colored hair, but like to dye my hair different colors. Everyone else in my family has brown hair.
6. I've been to 6 different countries: Mexico, Germany, France, Italy, Switzerland, and Czech Republic. The only three I still want to visit are Ireland, England, and Scotland (in that order).
7. I was raised by an Argentinian nanny beginning at age 2. I learned my numbers in Spanish before I learned them in English.
I honestly couldn't pick 15 new blogs, in fact, Liana mentioned quite a few blogs I enjoy in her award post. So here are five special people in alphabetical order:
A Bird on Her Nest
A California Girl & A Boston Boy
A Woman's Place
Catholic Newlywed
Laughing All the Way
Enjoy!

7 Quick Takes
— 1 —
I keep composing posts in my mind when I'm trying to go to sleep at night. I still have to review the third book I got from Catholic Company (which I should do soon since the details are starting to get a little fuzzy), and I want to write a guest post for Mandi on marrying young. I hate that work drains my creativity. Thankfully though, I still enjoy reading everyone's blogs.

Brian and I finally decided what we are doing for our one year wedding anniversary. We are heading out to Yosemite to stay at Tenaya Lodge for 4 days and 3 nights. I am so excited! Yosemite is one of the most beautiful places in the United States and I have really fond memories of camping there as a child. It is a 6 hour drive from Santa Barbara, but I'm actually looking forward to it. I love having long talks in the car with my husband!
— 3 —
We have some fun things planned for this weekend! Tomorrow we are going to the Angels baseball game with Brian's sister and nieces. Brian got tickets for his birthday that come with a food package, and we are finally getting around to using them. Although I'm not an Angels fan (I bleed blue - Go Dodgers!) I'm excited to go to a baseball game and I'm sure Brian will enjoy it. Hope they win! Sunday we have some shopping to do, and Monday we are having lunch with friends before heading back to SB. Busy busy as usual.

I've been thinking about what kind of posts I want to showcase on my blog. Usually I just have time for the run-of-the-mill stuff and don't really get in depth. Although I don't see myself clearing any time for deep thought soon, I happen to have a number of papers, poems, and short stories in the backlog from my years as a Creative Writing major. I guess I've just been hesitant to post that kind of media - I also have a number of analytical papers on various topics. Would anyone be interested in reading that sort of thing?

Fridays are donut days at work. The plain sugar sprinkled donut is my favorite and really makes for a great morning. By the way, I really prefer the spelling of "donut" rather than "doughnut." I'm not sure why that bothers me so much.
— 6 —
Do you know why 7 quick takes are so hard for me? Because I have the worst memory in the world. It's Friday night and I literally cannot remember what I had for dinner on Wednesday, let alone what I did on Monday. Yikes - maybe I need some fish oil?
— 7 —
I wrote this post Friday night and when I went to post it blogger wasn't working for me. So I saved the post and turned off my computer to eat dinner. When I came back and restarted my computer, the WiFi would not turn on. The button on my touchscreen control was stuck in the off position. I just about lost it. It does this about every 6 months and you have to keep turning the computer on and off before it resets itself. Sometimes as many as 6 times. So when I finally got the WiFi button unstuck and went to post this, blogger had somehow corrupted most of the post and it was just a bunch of mumbo jumbo. Every time I tried to erase the broken script Firefox would freeze. Needless to say, it's now Sunday and I'm finally hoping this works.
