I was born on a rainy day in Redondo Beach, CA.
My parents decided to name me Rachel after my mom saw Witness with Harrison Ford and Kelly McGillis.
That's right, I'm named after a fictional Amish woman.

He came out of the womb tan. We called him Malibu Baby. Jealous. |
Growing up I played softball, soccer, and karate. I eventually played softball for my high school team.
I was firmly convinced I was a boy until about age 12.
Me and Great-Grandma. This is obviously before I had a say in what pink monstrosity my mother dressed me in. |
Needless to say, I was a bit of a tomboy.
My worst year of schooling was 7th grade, when a girl falsely accused me of being anorexic. I spent the entire year ostracized, and had to make all new friends.

Senior Portrait. I was lucky enough to get my braces off two weeks before! |
I entered my senior year of Cal State University Long Beach at 20, and graduated at 21. I majored in English, specializing in Creative Writing.
I met my future husband on catholicmatch.com after I decided to create a profile 2 months after my 18th birthday.

After being raised almost entirely secular and spending the majority of my life alternating between agnostic and atheist, I converted to Catholicism on Easter Vigil March 22, 2008. Brian was my sponsor.
In June of 2011, I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis, a form of Inflammatory Bowel Disease.
I enjoy reading science fiction and fantasy, crafting when I feel like it, going to the zoo, computer and console gaming, and eating out when I can convince my husband.
We are expecting our first baby on January 7, 2013!
