"Miracles are a retelling in small letters of the very same story which is written across the world in letters too large for some of us to see."
- C.S. Lewis
I've been there! This Nebraska girl has been to CA only one time, and while there, we went to Catalina Island. We saw dolphins on the way there. We went snorkeling. I saw an octopus! Thanks for visiting my blog! The aircraft carrier that came through LA (okay, near LA) was indeed the Abe Lincoln, the carrier to which my brother is assigned. He was on it! I can't get ahold of him, so I know he's underway (moving in the water). How fun! It's a small world.
My husband's sister and her husband lived in LA (Santa Clarita/Valencia) for many many years. They moved back to NE after their daughter was born, stayed five years, then moved back to CA for a year and are currently there. The point of me telling you that is that she also couldn't find pro-life, Catholic healthcare. It was very frustrating for them.
You could always move to NE, you know. ;) We love "immigrants" here. A new priest came to our parish recently. Here, we have only diocesan priests. But this man is a Franciscan. He came from D.C. He says that we have no idea how lucky we are here, how blessed. My friends and I do know how lucky we are, though. We call this our Catholic bubble and we will never, ever leave it! There's a particular diocese and parish you should move to, should you decide to do it.... (only joking)
I could babble at you all day, but we're off to swimming lessons!
Aubrey, can you believe I've been a Southern California native all my life and have only been to Catalina twice? It's a wonderful place to visit!
We will be moving in about a year...just don't know where yet! :) My husband is finishing his PhD and will be applying for a Professor job that starts in 2012. So who knows - we might be neighbors!
We like our Parish here (loved our parish back in Long Beach) but the Catholic bubble doesn't seem to extend beyond that.
